Do you have a new injury or pain that prevents you from running, or leaves you unsure about what to and how to recover? Or have you had some long-standing ache and pain that you’ve been pushing through, maybe trying to ignore, but hoping it goes away?

In either case, we’d highly suggest working with a clinician that specialises in treating people with running injuries.

Assessment of running injuries:

We first undertake a comprehensive history in order to hear your story, how the pain began and how it impacts on all aspects of your life. We will also discuss your training routine in detail. We then perform a comprehensive examination of the area and surrounding structures.

This includes assessment of the sensitivity of the structures to touch, movement, and load, as well as the mobility of the joints and the strength of the muscles as they relate to running and your pain.

Treatment of running injuries:

Based on all this information we will then explain to you in simple language, where the pain is coming from, the factors that are contributing to your pain, and discuss the best treatment options available to you.

We will identify your goals and ensure the treatment plan is directed towards these. For some people this process may take 2-3 sessions, however for long term problems this may take up to 7-10 sessions over a 3-4 month period.

At Back in Balance we are not interested in ongoing “band-aid treatments”. We know that the best way to manage and resolve running injuries is to help you understand why you have pain, having a treatment plan to address the factors that contribute to your pain, and get you back in control, moving, active and living again.
